So no, it isn’t easy in the least bit. In fact, from the people who talk about the TRUTH behind affiliate marketing, it CAN be a great way to make money, but only after you’ve spent months or even years putting content out there and already have a VERY solid viewer base. That’s great that you worked your way up so fast, but for your one blog that makes as much as you claim, there are countless others who wasted months or even years on blogs and get little to no return on it. So, your website neglects to cover the most difficult part of the topic. And that’s not pointing the finger at you – it seems like that is where 99% of the people discussing affiliate marketing fall short. They talk about the finish line rather than the path to GET to that finish line.
It’s free to join the SellHealth affiliate program, though you do have to apply and be accepted before you can start promoting their products.  Once you’re accepted, you’ll have access to a number of tools, graphics, banners and more that you can use to promote SellHealth products.  The sales are actually made at company-owned Websites, which look professional and handle all of the selling. Commissions vary, but the base rate is 30% of all sales and upsells, and SellHealth says you can earn up to $350 per sale.
Your domain is the address for your website (e.g., www.affilorama.com) so this is the first thing you will need to do when setting up your site. Considering there are millions of websites on the internet, it's possible that the domain name you want may already be taken by someone else. So make sure you have several options in mind. Be sure to read our advice on how to choose a good domain name.
As a blogger (I write about digital marketing), I’ve always been more drawn to in-house affiliate programs. Recently, I got into squirrly’s program (they got me with the 70% in commissions out of all sales, I have to admit it). But with all the new stuff I learned from this post, I’m seriously considering expanding. Thanks a lot for the useful tips.
Hey Ray, I appreciate your brutally honest view about spamming. Now I’m clear about how I should earn commissions properly, from a website building, not by sending random unsolicited emails. Too many people do that nowadays, with no malicious intent, but I see there’s almost no effect or whatsoever. I nearly put myself into that trap. Thanking you for that.

Once you get your basic website set up, your affiliates all arranged, and you start producing content that other people might want to see, it’s time to learn how to market yourself so that people will start visiting your site and finding out what you have to offer. If it’s good, word of mouth will bring others to see your website, and that (along with more marketing and SEO) will slowly but surely grow your audience. But to learn more about that, you should read some of the other articles on this site.

Hi Masaya, it was great talking to you! The primal reason I didn’t recommend a solo ad business is that it requires a lot of investment in the beginning and it will take a long time before you see the breakeven point. Anyway it’s great to hear that you’ve all set up to start a niche marketing via your website. I look forward to visiting your site once it goes live. Good luck! Thanks for your comment.
Writing good advertising sales copy (copywriting) is the other important skill for online marketers. The good news is that when it comes to affiliate marketing, many vendors will provide you with advertising copy to use for your blog posts, websites ads, etc. They'll give you the emails to send, the banner ads to display, and even posts you can use on social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). The more materials that vendors give their affiliates the better changes an affiliate has to make sales for them - it's a win/win situation.
You can put up banners on your site, to promote your affiliate offers. Most affiliate programs will usually provide their own creatives when you sign up for their offers. All you have to do is insert the banner on a highly trafficked page (your affiliate tracking is usually embedded within the code). Banner ads in the right locations can do a great job of driving sales.

In the past, large affiliates were the mainstay, as catch-all coupons and media sites gave traffic to hundreds or thousands of advertisers. This is not so much the case anymore. With consumers using long-tail keywords and searching for very specific products and services, influencers can leverage their hyper-focused niche for affiliate marketing success. Influencers may not send advertisers huge amounts of traffic, but the audience they do send is credible, targeted, and has higher conversion rates.
Products are now put in a category. The commission will be based on the category each product has been placed in whether or not the category is correct. For instance, I had a sale for a child riding toy tractor. Instead of it being in toys category which would have only earned me 3%, it was actually placed in lawn and garden category which I then actually earned 8% instead.
VigLink works a bit differently than other affiliate programs in that it is specifically designed for bloggers. Instead of affiliates picking and choosing which merchants to work with, VigLink uses dynamic links that automatically change to work with merchants that VigLink has determined are offering the highest conversation rates and/or commissions at any given moment.
Hey Ahmed, great value share, I must admit. Your explanation on the affiliate program connected to Six Figure Mentors was fascinating, but since you’re a fairly direct source, please explain to me how promoting their products works. I am aware that their products are qualified and life-altering(which makes it so much more interesting to promote) and also aware that you suggested there are financial obligations. I’ve already committed thousands to AWOL(I’m 17 by the way) and I believe in quality products as such to promote. Do I need to purchase SFM training eventually? I am willing to do so, in… Read more »
Hi Ray, thank you for your help the other day, I’m making a progress slowly but nicely. But I just read this publication and now I really understood why you didn’t recommend me to try a traffic selling business. It all makes sense now! It’s not only difficult to set up but too many problems by products and people. If they report me as a spammer I won’t be able to grow as an online marketer any longer. I really see what you mean.
Many companies offer an affiliate program (or they call it a "partnership" program). If you want to check it, you can google it. For example you love products from a furniture store called "MyFurnitureStore". Then google search it by the keywords "myfurniturestore affiliate program". Something should come up in most cases! If they do offer an affiliate program, there will be a joining instruction in the page.
Awesome article, affiliate marketing is the best source of income for every blogger or website. I think commission junction is the best affiliate program and also most of the bloggers use the affiliate program to make a huge amount of money. Excellent post. Affiliating marketing is best for every blogger and A member arrange goes about as a middle person between distributors who offer items and administrations and the vendors who make those items and administrations and their associated projects.
One big difference between SkimLinks and VigLinks, however, is that once you’re approved by the company, you can choose to work with any merchant or program on its platform. SkimLinks has also published a white paper discussing its partnership with Buzzfeed, giving SkimLinks a lot of credibility. SkimLinks also has a higher tier of vetted merchants called “Preferred Partner” and “VIP” that both pay higher commissions than standard merchants.
Many affiliate programs run with last-click attribution, where the affiliate receiving the last click before the sale gets 100% credit for the conversion. This is changing. With affiliate platforms providing new attribution models and reporting features, you are able to see a full-funnel, cross-channel view of how individual marketing tactics are working together.
You can bid on PPC keywords related to the product you want to promote. However, you’re correct – there are usually restrictions around using any brand names in the keywords/ad copy. So it becomes a battle of non-brand keywords where you’re going up against the brands themselves and it can get expensive. However, it can work if you have a sizable budget and send users to a comparison page. Ranking 10+ different products increases your chances of revenue.

There are also a lot of customization options. You can integrate hotel booking sites into your website, choose specific destinations, and showcase properties that interest you. For example, you could start a niche affiliate site about “Denver Family Vacations,” write content about the top things to do in Denver, guides about the local area, and promote specific hotels.
